O is for Opposite is the A-plot of the 15th episode of season 2 of Odd Squad.

Synopsis[]

When Ms. O gets trapped in a mirror, and Ms. O's reflection escapes, Olympia, Otis and Oona must predict where Opposite Ms. O will be to catch her and free the real Ms. O.

Olympia's Random Slide[]

This...is a nice place for a field trip.

Learning Goal[]

  • Use probability and data collected to determine the next option that is most likely to be chosen

Plot[]

Otis and Olympia are on a case with a woman for an unknown reason. The woman calls the office asking why the agents are in her office. The boss tells her that there is a void behind one of the blinds. She opens the blinds and there is indeed a void. They fix it using the Un-void-inator. The woman thanks them and gives them a picture of a monkey on a bicycle.

Back at headquarters, Oona shows up at Olympia and Otis's desks where Olympia asks Oona if she has bad news. She initially declines it, but after seeing Olympia and Otis with suspicious looks, she admits that she does have bad news and takes them to the lab to find Ms. O trapped in a mirror. Oona explains that she went to the paint store earlier and she was trying to buy the red paint. Otis stops her and is confused what that story has to do with what just happened. Ms. O then tells her story. In the lab, Ms. O was looking for Oona and then found the mirror where she decided to practice her facial expressions. She found some dust on the mirror and tried to clean it and ended up getting sucked into the mirror and another Ms. O (with the opposite personality) came out and escaped. It turns out that she was buying the red paint to put a warning sign to stay away from the mirror. Oona tells Otis and Olympia to find Opposite Ms. O, but they don't know where she is, but they realize that whatever the real Ms. O likes, the opposite Ms. O hates, and vice versa.

Oona brings up a pictograph showing how many times the real Ms. O ate lunch at a certain place. She ate at the Confalones eight times, Debbie's pizzeria four times, and Delivery Doug's egg salad cafeteria only once this month. They realize that where the real Ms. O ate the least, the opposite Ms. O would have eaten the most, and she is currently eating at Delivery Doug's egg salad cafeteria. They head there to find the opposite Ms. O and they indeed find her there and she is eating her fifth egg salad sandwich. The real Ms. O speaks in a flowery tone and hugs the two agents. They take pictures and she escapes without them knowing. Doug requests them to pay the bill which costs $500 and he uses goat eggs for his egg salad sandwiches.

They return to headquarters where Ms. O, still inside the mirror, is drinking a juice box which tastes bad. They bring up another pictograph where Ms. O went race-car driving 10 times, skydiving 20 times, and karate class 5 times. Since the real Ms. O went to karate class the least number of times, she would most likely be there. They head there and meet Tae-Kwon-Do Tony and ask him if he has seen Ms. O. He says that he has seen Ms. O, but only on TV which shows Ms. O winning a race car trophy, which indicates that the opposite Ms. O did race-car driving instead. They are confused because the real Ms. O didn't go race-car driving the least amount of times. Tony then makes a suggestion to find out what the real Ms. O would do at the same time every day, which would help them figure out what the opposite Ms. O would do at the same time.

They ask Ms. O what she does at the same time everyday. Ms. O tells them that she leaves headquarters after work which is around now, in which the opposite Ms. O would arrive at headquarters now. Ms. O then remembers that she closes and locks every door at headquarters before she leaves. They go to find the opposite Ms. O while Oona brings the mirror. They see Ms. O, who is indeed at headquarters, opening a robot princess door. They use shields to protect themselves from the robot princess while putting her back inside the room and closing the door, despite the opposite Ms. O telling them to stop. The opposite Ms. O asks them why they closed the door and it's their job to cause oddness while speaking in a flowery tone. They realize that while opposite Ms. O is nice, she is actually a bad person. Ms. O says that Odd Squad is about a bunch of bad guys. The agents, knowing that the real Ms. O loves juice boxes, take out and show the juice boxes to the opposite Ms. O who backs away from them because she hates them (also explaining why Ms. O's juice box in the mirror tasted bad). Olympia offers one last picture to Ms. O and they take it before drawing her back to the mirror world. The real Ms. O comes back out and thanks the agents. Just then Otis offers to get rid of the mirror and accidentally touches it causing him to get in. The opposite Otis comes out speaking in pirate accent and they take so many pictures together.
